1. Panasonic ER-GB60-K – Best Adjustable Beard Trimmer
This trimmer has been quite popular among users and after my review, I understand why this is so.
Main Features
The feature that will surely grasp your attention is the inclusion of 39 length settings. This is by far the highest length adjustment offered by any trimmer on this list. This will allow you to precisely get the look you wish for.
The two combs included also serve the purpose of providing users with everything they need for an accurate trim. You can use the combs horizontally to hold the hair in place while you use the trimmer to cut it.
Yet another factor that grasped my attention from the get-go was the style of this item. The glossy black finish is a nice touch since it reflects an aura of sophistication. Even the rubberized grip, which is added for comfort, blends well with the black exterior. However, since it is glossy and not a matte finish, the trimmer is prone to getting smudge marks.
All of the components of the ER-GB60 are washable. This ensures that the product can be used by more than one person without any worries about how hygienic it is.
- It charges quickly.
- It has a fine grip.
- The various settings provide accuracy and precision.
- There is no LED indicator to show how much battery is remaining.
2. Philips Norelco 7200 – Best Vacuum Beard Trimmer
Philips is known for being a step ahead of its competitors when it comes to offering innovative technology and benefits to users. Its Trimmer Series 7200 is an example of this.
Main Features
Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a way to reduce the mess created when shaving? Well, the Trimmer Series 7200 takes care of this by adding a built-in vacuum. This means that you don’t need to worry about leaving behind any facial hair since the product will literally suck it all in.
As far as the quality of the vacuum is concerned, the Philips Series 7200 has left quite a mark. While I can’t authenticate the company’s claim of the vacuum’s ability to capture 90% of the fallen hair, what I can confirm is that there is barely any hair left behind on the sink when shaving via this product.
I also liked the unconventional yet wise choices Philips has made regarding the aesthetics of this trimmer. While trimmers are normally accompanied by polished chrome plastic, in this product, real steel is used. This provides the trimmer with a sophisticated and attractive finish.
Furthermore, the addition of steel makes the exterior resistant to smudges and watermarks, thereby retaining the aesthetic factor.
- The grip of the trimmer is comfortable and firm.
- The trimming performance is excellent.
- It is easy to clean the trimmer.
- The battery does not last long.
3. Panasonic ER-GB370K – Best Beard Trimmer and Hair Clipper
When you hear the word Panasonic, you expect the product to deliver the claims that it makes, and this Wet and Dry Cordless Electric Beard Trimmer manage to do so.
Main Features
During my review, the first thing I was impressed by was the light weight of the product along with the focus that was put on its ergonomics. In order to ensure that the trimmer can be held firmly by users, the product includes a rubberized component. This element not only guarantees a comfortable grip but also allows you to have optimum control of the trimmer.
Yet another characteristic which succeeds in providing convenience to users is the fact that this trimmer can be used underwater.
Whether it is shaving during a shower or cleaning the trimmer by placing it under warm water, all of this is managed by the water-resistance of this cordless trimmer.
Therefore, from 1 mm to 10 mm, you can manipulate the trim length to achieve a precise and detailed cutting experience. Also, changing settings is quite easy with the addition of a dial that can be adjusted quickly.
- The design and built is great for those looking for portability.
- The performance is excellent.
- The trimmer is durable.
- It does not create noise when being used.
- The placement of the length control dial is poor.
4. Philips Norelco Multi-Groom 7100 – Best for Thick Beards
Yet another Philips product that has managed to satisfy me is its Multi-Groom Trimmer-QG3390/42. It is equipped with an array of value-added features which make it worth every penny.
Main Features
This all-in-one trimmer has the power to shave it all, whether it is your beard, mustache, sideburns, or body hair. This will be a source of convenience for the masses, especially those who would rather not spend too much on grooming tools.
Philips is known for its durability, and this product is no different. With the help of its self-sharpening blades which is made from ground steel along with its lithium-ion battery, this Multi-Groom Trimmer is here to stay in your grooming kit for a long time.
Hence, regardless of how wild of a beard style you wish to opt for, rest assured that this trimmer can deliver it all.
While a trimmer allows you to achieve a clean look, the product itself can be a hub of germs if you don’t clean it often and properly. This is why Philips has made the cutting heads of this product washable so that they can be thoroughly cleaned before being used again.
- The motor is quiet and not a source of annoyance.
- The various attachments deliver their function flawlessly.
- The adjustment clip is flimsy.
5. Philips Norelco 9100 – Best Trimmer for Beginners
What if I told you there was a way for you to set boundaries about exactly where you need to trim without physically marking? Well, this is exactly what Philips Norelco offers.
Main Features
Let’s start with the feature that is generally unheard of in a trimmer – a laser guide. Philips Norelco 9100 truly feels like a product of the 21st century. The built-in laser guide provides you with all the help you need to create the look of your dreams.
When it comes to performance and other features, this product does not disappoint either. It lets you choose between 17 different lengths. This variety of option lets you alter your look as per your desire and get the exact length you want.
The LED display embedded in the product not only looks stylish but also lets you know what trimmer setting you are on, thereby eliminating guesswork.
Also, the self-sharpening blades are quite cost-effective for the masses since they do not need any maintenance. On top of it, their rounded tips ensure that your skin is not irritated, regardless of how close the blades get to your face.
- The 17 length settings provide users with the versatility needed.
- It is accompanied by a two-year warranty.
- The construction aids in making the product durable.
- The laser guide is an innovative and helpful addition.
- The cost of the trimmer is high.
- The guards are prone to get filled with hair quite quickly.
6. Braun Cruzer 6 – The Best Hair and Beard Trimmer 2020
Braun is one of the many reputable brands of electronic devices. Therefore, with this product, you don’t need to worry about being provided with subpar performance. Braun is known for its commitment to quality, and this beard and head trimmer reflects this.
Main Features
One of the best things about this product is the various length settings it includes. It provides you with the autonomy to vary the length from 1 mm to 20 mm. The inclusion of such settings makes this product as usable for the creation of a stubble as it is for a full beard look.
Also, this range of settings is what makes this trimmer capable of being used on facial and head hair. You will find that trimming the hair on your head using this product is just as easy as using it for your beard.
This trimmer is cordless and runs on a battery. You can expect it to run for approximately 40 minutes when fully charged. I liked this feature as compared to other similar products in the market, the battery life is satisfactory.
Furthermore, the product merely takes an hour to completely charge, which is bound to be a source of convenience for many.
- The dual battery provides optimum power.
- You can trim while the product is plugged into the wall.
- The blades are sharp.
- The ergonomics are comfortable, and the trimmer is easy to grip.
- A point comes when the trimmer refuses to charge.
7. TRYM II – Best Rechargeable Beard Trimmer
Do you wish to equip yourself with stylish products, regardless of what the nature of their use is? Would you rather have an aesthetically pleasing beard trimmer than a basic product? If so, you might find TRYM II to be an excellent addition to your kit.
Main Features
The most distinct feature of this product has to be its sleek and stylish look. When it comes to appearance, I couldn’t find a better product than this. However, this isn’t the only good thing this trimmer has going on for itself.
The performance of the product is also up to par as per its price. This wireless model can last for approximately an hour on a full charge. This extended life is enough to ensure you are able to use the product for at least two times before it runs out. However, the long charging time of eight hours wasn’t my favorite thing about it.
The trimmer is accompanied by metal blades that are made from a professional-grade material. This addition guarantees the durability of the blades as well as the quality of the performance. Furthermore, along with the trimming property, the product comes with four other attachments ranging from a cleaning brush to oil. The cleaning brush aids in keeping the product clean at all times, which is always a source of a problem for the masses.
- The trimmer looks great.
- It is durable.
- The trimming output of the product is satisfactory.
- There are only four length settings, which might not be enough for most of you.
- The charging time is very long and inconvenient.
8. Andis 4775 GTX – Best Professional Beard Trimmer

The curved edges allow you to precisely trim your beard leaving behind any bump. The brand also keeps its users’ comfort in mind. Therefore, the performance of the trimmer is such that it succeeds in avoiding both irritation and ingrown hair.
When it comes to the robustness of the construction, Andis has managed to win people over in this aspect as well. Considering that it is a trimmer used by professionals, this feature isn’t really surprising. However, it is still a great thing to have in any product.
These drawbacks can be forgiven when you consider the powerful and precise performance of this trimmer. Let’s face it, if you wish to be as good at trimming your beard as a professional barber, you need to let go of factors like comfort.
- The performance of the product is exemplary.
- The price is reasonable.
- The trimmer is robust.
- You can’t vary the trim length.
- It is not waterproof or cordless.

This powerful performance is delivered with the help of the included motor, which plays an integral role in providing more torque than an average beard trimmer.
Furthermore, a two-year warranty accompanies the product. Again, this makes the investment quite cost-effective since it reduces the brunt of the expenses. Additionally, the very fact that the company is providing a guarantee speaks volumes about the durability of the product.

Beard Trimmer Buying Guide – Things to Keep in Mind Before Purchase
Since there are too many products in the market to choose from, it is natural for you to feel confused about which product to pick. For this reason, I have compiled a buying guide and have reviewed 10 products. Together, this will ensure that you are able to sift through the never-ending products in the market and select the one which best satisfies your needs.
Why You Need a Beard Trimmer?
For all the cynics out there, I am here to tell you that a beard trimmer is a compulsory equipment to have, whether you have a clean-shaven face or a stubble. Here is why a beard trimmer is a necessity.
The number of times I have had to sport cut marks due to razors is countless. I am sure that most of you can relate. With a beard trimmer, you don’t need to worry about hurting yourself.
Rather than carrying a big grooming kit wherever you go, you can easily reduce your luggage by buying a beard trimmer. Since this tool is quite small and lightweight, it is portable and is a source of immense help when you need a quick shave.
Finally, for anyone who wishes to look good and control their facial hair as per their liking, a beard trimmer is a must-have. It lets you manipulate the length of your facial hair and opt for various looks while being convenient to operate. What else could one want in a grooming tool?
Why Use a Beard Trimmer Over a Razor?
When it comes to grooming yourself, there are various tools you can use. Two of the most prominent ones are beard trimmers and razors. I believe that beard trimmers have an edge over razors for quite a few reasons. Here are some of them.
Clearing the Confusion Between a Stubble Trimmer and a Beard Trimmer
For a long time, I used to think stubble trimmers and beard trimmers are synonymous with one another. I like to believe many of you have this confusion too. Hence, I am going to clarify this once and for all: stubble and beard trimmers are not the same thing.
While most beard trimmers can be used to create stubbles, as discussed above, a stubble trimmer cannot be used to trim a long beard. This is true except for cases when you buy an all-rounder trimmer.
With a stubble trimmer, the length settings are comparatively less. With most products, you will be able to trim your hair to a minimum length of 0.3-0.5 mm and a maximum length of 5 mm. This is the most you can expect out of a stubble trimmer. Thus, if have a longer beard length than this, you know what type of tool you shouldn’t be choosing.
In contrast to this, a beard trimmer can be effectively used for long and short lengths, so when you think about it, a beard trimmer seems like a much more convenient option among the two.
How to Choose the Best Beard Trimmer
Now that you are aware of the basics of a beard trimmer, the next question that you need to tackle is, how will you go about selecting the best beard trimmer in town?
There is a chance that most of you don’t think twice before selecting a beard trimmer. After all, most of us have a natural urge to pick the first product we lay our eyes on and get done with it. However, this is the worst thing you can do to your skin as well as your precious beard. Why? Just like any other product range in the market, there are good and bad beard trimmers out there.
To ensure that you pick the best one out of the lot, here are a few things you should consider when making the decision.
Hands down, this is the most important factor, regardless of what you are buying. If you have searched the market for potential additions to your grooming kit, you must have realized that the price of a beard trimmer ranges from being cheap to premium.
There is a common perception to view price as evidence of quality. While it is true that a trade-off between quality and cost does exist to some extent, it is possible to find a product which delivers an impressive performance at a low cost.
Similarly, there are various beard trimmers on the market that fail to deliver features that match their price. Therefore, at the end of the day, the price of a beard trimmer doesn’t mean much. What you need to do instead is focus on whether the given product succeeds in justifying its price or not.
As a rule of thumb, it is a good idea to go into the market after setting a minimum and maximum budget. This will allow you to weed out extravagantly expensive items as well as low-quality trimmers. With less yet better items to choose from, you are bound to make a better decision.
When it comes to electronic devices, trying out new brands and startups seem like too much of a risk. Most of us fear the idea of investing a lot of money in a product only to discover that it’s not as durable as we would have liked it to be.
Although products which are backed by a known brand might also not be durable, at least they are usually backed by warranties. This risk-averse behavior of customers holds true even in the purchase of a beard trimmer.
The idea of trying something new might seem lucrative to you, but speaking from experience, I believe that one cannot go wrong with a beard trimmer from a known brand. Choosing a reputable brand has an array of advantages including easy availability of the product and its replacement parts as well as a better chance of reselling it.
New companies tend to take forever to deliver their products, and such offerings might be limited to a few stores. Therefore, such items are not easily available. Since the chances of any component of a trimmer breaking are quite high, if the parts are not available in the market for an effective replacement, the beard trimmer will get useless quite soon. Let’s just say, being safe and choosing a beard trimmer from a known brand can help you avoid a lot of hassle.
Choose Between Battery-Powered and Corded Beard Trimmer
To further limit your choices as per your requirements, make sure you decide whether you want a battery-powered trimmer or one which features a cord. Just like in the case of price, this decision will further give clarity to your final choice.
How to Use a Beard Trimmer
Just selecting the best beard trimmer from a sea of choices will not guarantee that you end up with the perfect beard. For this, you need to know how to effectively use a beard trimmer.
Here are a few tips that might help you out.
Begin by Grooming Your Beard
Before you use the trimmer on your facial here, comb it in the direction of its growth. This will aid in ensuring that your beard hair faces the same direction and has the maximum length, thereby allowing you to better judge how short to trim it.
Decide on a Look
Don’t just dive into the process without having an action plan. Choose a look beforehand so that you can trim your beard accordingly. Merely going with the flow is the worst thing you can do to your facial hair. Yes, it will grow back, but the embarrassment that a poorly trimmed beard can cause you is not worth the spontaneity.
Trim Like You Shave
When you begin trimming, think of the process as an extension of shaving with a razor, minus the scratching and tendency of getting cuts. Just like you include the exposed parts of your neck and cheek into your shaving routine, the same goes for trimming. Wet your beard, decide on a length and begin trimming.
For those of you who are not yet sure what length will best suit your face, it is always a good idea to initially set the length high and decrease it until you are satisfied. This might increase the trimming time, but at least it will ensure that you are happy with the result.
The Intricacies of Trimming
Some of the steps that you should take when using a trimmer include the following:
- Place the trimmer guard attachment on the product.
- Turn on the trimmer in a way that the cutting unit is facing the opposite direction from you.
- Begin by using the product under your chin and move to the jawbone after that.
- Progress to your ears and the upper beard line. Make sure you use an upward motion through it all.
- Even though you can trim both with and against the direction of your beard growth, I prefer doing the former. It is entirely up to you as neither method is better than the other.
Define Your Beard Line
Now is the time for the real part, i.e., defining where your beard line will be. For this, you will need to remove the trimmer guard and hold the product in a way that the cutting blades face you. Start from the edge and make your way to the center. Make sure you don’t press too hard on your skin. Instead, the cutting blades should be resting lightly on your skin to prevent cuts.
Use the Trimmer to Taper Your Beard
If the trimmer you selected comes with a styling comb, now is the time to use it. Remove the guard attachment and use the comb to hold all the hair in place. Do so while trimming your facial hair so that you can effectively reduce the volume of your beard. Also, when I say holding it in place, I mean using the comb in the horizontal direction.
Create a Stubble Look
Since stubble looks are all the rage right now, most of you would wish to achieve the look. I am sure a fairly good amount of you are buying a beard trimmer for this reason. If you are one of these individuals, follow these simple guidelines to create the perfect stubble look.
- Place the trimmer guard attachment.
- Set it to either 1.5 mm or 2.5 mm in length.
- Use a cutting unit to hold the hair down. This should either be facing upward or downward.
- Hold the trimmer in a horizontal position.
- Either perform an upward or downward motion to trim your hair.
- Make sure you don’t remove too much hair.
Verdict
Among the ten products reviewed above, I loved the performance of the Philips Norelco 7200 Beard and Head Trimmer. Those of you who value features other than performance might disagree with my choice. There is no one best beard trimmer out there. It all depends on what you want in an ideal product.
At the end of the day, make sure you choose a product that is worth the money spent. Buy a trimmer, and leave the razors behind.

Thank you for the great article
I am more than happy to help you.
Great post !! Thanks a lot for another great information:)
I’m using Remington VPG6530 right now. I use to shave with a wahl without a guard and got it done quick, but with this one, the shaver doesn’t protrude out enough to do that because the vacuum is in the way, and shaving with the guard to maintain stubble, it doesn’t seem very even. Not even cutting on my cheeks, just near my jaw.
What is the best shaver to maintain the short beard/stubble look?
Hey Stuart , You can go for Panasonic ER-GB370K. This trimmer provides you with 19 settings, each of which is at 0.5 mm increment from one another.
Therefore, from 1 mm to 10 mm, you can manipulate the trim length to achieve a precise and detailed cutting experience.
Have to use a Remington PG6025 with no guard to shave though. Best $20 ever, Remington has a good kick.
Best of luck Tommy! Let me know how it goes.
I currently use Philips Norelco 7200 and no complaints here. I can remove the guard to get super close, thats what I do.
Thanks for your feedback Roben.
Bought panasonic er gb60 because the reviews said it works well. It does work.Use it to trim beard, goes to very close.
I am glad it helped 🙂
Choosing a right Trimmer is very much necessary now days
I’m looking for a ‘jack of all trades’ beard trimmer and shaver.
This is will probably be my fourth or fifth trimmer over the years, so I know what I’m looking for, I just need some help finding it. My beard starts at .5m by the ears up to around 2cm on the chin, so it needs to be good at fading. What I have found hard to find though, is a trimmer that is also very good at shaving for the neckline and cheeks.
Ideally, it would also have a two pin plug, so that it it does not have to leave the bathroom for charging overnight.
I have not seen any websites with filters for all of these things, which makes it very hard to find one that ticks all the boxes, so any help would be much appreciated.
Hi Elizabeth,
You can go for Philips Norelco Multi-Groom 7100, It’s a precise trimmer. This trimmer performs really well on all part of the face also has almost all the bells and whistles .
The nerelco 7200 right now is $30 more than the Panasonic er-gb370k… would you still go for the 7200?
Pretty cool list, Rezan! One would certainly find a good beard trimmer from this list
